Troubleshooting Common MyFitnessPal Issues

This article covers the two most common issues we see with MyFitnessPal: accidentally signing into a second account, and incorrect diary sharing settings. Follow the steps below to quickly resolve either problem.

Issue 1: Signed Into a Second Account

When signing in using Continue with Google, Continue with Apple, or Continue with Facebook, MyFitnessPal may create a brand new second account instead of logging into your existing one.

⚠️ How to tell if this has happened: Open the app, tap More in the bottom navigation bar, and check the username displayed at the top. If it looks like a random string of characters β€” for example, pugsorzo0c3421 β€” you are likely on an automatically generated second account, not your original one.

To get back to your correct account:

  1. Tap More in the bottom navigation bar.

  2. Scroll down and tap Settings.

  3. Tap Logout at the bottom of the Settings screen.

  4. On the login screen, sign in using your email address and password instead of the social sign-in buttons. This ensures you access your original account.

πŸ’‘ Tip: To avoid this issue in the future, always sign in with your email and password rather than the Google, Apple, or Facebook buttons.

Issue 2: Incorrect Diary Sharing Settings

Your diary must be set to Locked with a key for the correct access level. If this is not configured properly, your diary may be visible to unintended people β€” or inaccessible to those who should have it.

To verify and fix your diary sharing settings:

  1. Tap More in the bottom navigation bar.

  2. Tap Settings.

  3. Tap Sharing & Privacy.

  4. Tap Diary Sharing.

  5. Select Locked with a key and enter the required password.

⚠️ Important: The options Private, Public, and Friends Only are not the correct settings. Make sure Locked with a key is the selected option, with a password entered.
